Language is a complex tool that human beings possess. Individuals start acquiring language rigth from birth. They are born with the necessary biological and mental components to develop it (Pinker, 1994, p. 18). Brown (1994) refers that some researchers (e.g., Chomsky) claim that humans are born with a mental abstract component in the brain which he calls the “Language Acquisition Device” (LAD). The LAD enables mankind to secure any language subconsciously with no effort. However, this abstract factor is not sufficient to develop language knowledge. Pinker (1994) comments that language is “culturally inherited” once humans come into existence they start receiving language input from their parents, the people around them and from the media. They just learn and produce language. Some researchers (e.g. Brown, 1994; Baker, 1996; Tavi, 2009) mentions a “critical period” within which children procure and develop native-like proficiency in a second language (L2) that they may learn. After the end of the “critical period “, which occurs around puberty, learning a new language seems to be a more difficult task. That happens because they do not have any more access to the LAD. Brown (1994) states that people who have passed the “critical period “present a relative incapability for developing a “native-like accent “when they learn another language. In addition to this, there are other important factors that exert and influence in L2 acquisition or learning.
