"The Communication Channels of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters' Management Model and Their Improvement for Academic Staff Strengthening Programs" is a research project that arose from a problem identified at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters (FFyL) of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). This problem relates to a lack of collaborative work and limited communication between the academic and administrative areas responsible for the Academic Strengthening Programs (AAAPFA), as well as the partial or total lack of awareness of university regulations among the academic staff. This situation has directly impacted access to, understanding of, and utilization of these programs, which are fundamental for academic retention and advancement.

The central objective of the project was to identify the current management model and existing communication channels within the AAAPFA, with the aim of proposing improvement strategies to strengthen these channels and, consequently, facilitate academic staff access to the strengthening programs. The research was developed in two complementary phases. The first consisted of a diagnostic phase that included a review of the official documents governing UNAM, as well as the selection and compilation of relevant information. and a conceptual analysis of specialized literature on strategic educational organization and management. The second phase comprised the analysis of the results of the diagnostic assessment applied to a group of full-time professors at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters (FFyL), the verification and evaluation of the implemented improvements, and the holding of an interdisciplinary colloquium with other faculties and research centers of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

Currently, the faculty faces constant changes and challenges to their academic retention and advancement within a higher education institution that must remain at the forefront of teaching, research, and cultural dissemination. To respond to these demands, UNAM operates under its own legislation, from which strategies, programs, and projects are derived, forming the Institutional Development Plan (PDI). The work plans of each department are developed based on this plan. One of the core strategies of the PDI is the strengthening of the academic staff, which includes processes of professional development, continuing education, evaluation, and recognition.

At the FFyL, the responsibility for these programs falls primarily to the General Secretariat and the Academic Secretariat, which, For their proper operation, a series of communication channels are established with other academic and administrative areas. However, several problems have been identified within these channels. On the one hand, the academic staff has expressed a lack of awareness of university regulations and, in some cases, of the programs themselves and their operation. On the other hand, the interaction between the Academic and Administrative Units (AAAPFA) is fragmented, independent, and poorly coordinated.

It should be noted that the identification of the aforementioned project was initially carried out empirically, since the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters (FFyL) did not have documented records on this problem. Consequently, it was necessary to apply diagnostic assessments and surveys to identify the origins of the communication failures, as well as to design, implement, and evaluate improvement strategies. The approach was based on the perspective of strategic educational organization and management, prioritizing pedagogy, collaborative work, openness to learning and innovation, professional development support, and knowledge management. Thus, the project focused on a comprehensive diagnosis and on proposing improvements aimed at optimizing the communication channels of the model. of the management of the FFyL.
